For a lot of families the school zone decides the neighborhood. Look up any Houston-area school, its ratings and its attendance boundaries.

Schools decide the neighbourhood for a lot of buyers
Greater Houston is served by many independent school districts, including Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Lamar CISD and Pearland ISD. District boundaries do not follow city limits, so an address in one city can be zoned to a district named after another.
Attendance zones are also redrawn periodically as districts open new campuses or rebalance enrolment. A zone that was accurate when a listing was written may not be accurate when you close.
Verify the zone for the exact address
Use this tool to research schools and districts, then confirm the current attendance zone for the specific property directly with the district before making a decision that depends on it.
If a particular campus is the reason you are buying, confirm it in writing. Listing remarks are entered by people and can be out of date.
Common questions
Questions people actually ask
- Do school attendance zones change?
- Yes. Districts redraw attendance zones periodically as campuses open or enrolment shifts. Always confirm the current zone for a specific address with the school district rather than relying on a listing or a search tool.
- Does the city in the address tell me the school district?
- No. School district boundaries in Greater Houston do not follow city limits. A home with a Houston address can be zoned to Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD or another district entirely.
- Can Esther help me search by school zone?
- Yes. The advanced search filters by district and attendance zone, and she can set up alerts limited to the zones you care about.
